I never understood why people get involved with these.
For starters, you bug everyone you know like friends and family. They will probably be nice up front but will talk about what a P.I.T.A you have become.
Those on the inside of MLM will tell you different. It’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. But that’s only so they can get you working for them.
Sorry, but that’s my two cents on MLM.
Not if you want to be successful.
To be successful, you need to really work your **** off for a long time. Forget what you hear about instant success stories - they’re fairy tales that are not likely to happen to you. Be prepared for years of hard, hard, work before anything starts paying off.
And that’s to be successful in ONE mlm. There’s only so many hours in the day. Not enought to be trying to juggle several at the same time. Also, with multiple mlms you will be getting advice from all sorts of people - some of it contradictory. Keep it simple.
first let me say that Smithy has been posting spam all over Yahoo answers and his answers are being removed as we speak, he is flat out lying to you and cannot be trusted.
He just posted an answer saying that a well known reputable company was a scam in order to sell people like you his program.
People like Smithy give internet marketing a very bad name and make it difficult for professional marketers like myself to do business.
As for your question, mlms are not scams, they aren’t my favorite type of program but they are not scams.
I would suggest checking out any offer you are considering at sites like scams.com or scambusters .org before spending any money.
I make my living as an internet marketer so Yes it is possible . I have 9 or 10 programs that I am involved in and they all do well.
I emailed “Smithy” to see what scam he was pulling and this is the response I received. beware of people like this.
Well i own an internet business.
I make $280 on good weeks by scamming people into joining my paid survey site.
Its not like i enjoy scamming but in times like these im not left with many options. (i was laid off due to the bad economy and this recession is really hitting me hard)
Its 100% legal because its basically an over-hyped product so i get away with it.
so they are actually getting something for their money but its just a list of 400 free survey websites (every survey company does this and gets away with it.) it is possible for someone to make money from this list. it just takes a long time.
I got mine from this site that was offering to make and host the website and business for me and provide 1to1 training
the website they sold me is
(Just dont sign up)
if you want one of your own i can send you the link to the site i got it off?
that’s all i can really think of that will make you any decent money.
egf247 is right — MLM companies are not pyramid schemes, which are illegal. However, some MLM companies are “better” than others. Before you join a company, you need to do your research and find out exactly how things work and how you make your money.
Here are two sites that will give you some great information:
1. Check out Mentoring For Free, which is an incredible program that is exactly what it says — all free information, including audios and eBooks. Here’s the link to my friend Will’s page:
2. The Renegade Network Marketer is a program that will help you set up your business for success. Check out my friend Curt’s page here:
And, when you are ready to create your own website to promote your new business, please consider using SiteBuildIt! which is a complete training package for developing an online business. You can get more information here:
The bottom line is that Network Marketing is definitely a viable business model, but it is not a Get Rich Quick scheme. And to answer your specific question, you should pick ONE great company and become successful in that. Then, when you understand how it all works, if you can find another company that fits with what you are doing but doesn’t compete, you can expand.
One other thing — many MLMs prohibit their distributors from recruiting to or from other companies, so you may have a problem recruiting for more than one company.
It really depends on your objective and what you have going on. If you are planning on running your business the traditional method, working 2 may not be so great.
If you are into advertising, well, working as many as you want is good but I would limit it down to just a couple till things are going well.
Let me give you an example. Lets say you build a website about animals. You could join a mlm that sells animal nutritional products. The company I am part of sells omega oil & hip and joint supplements for pets.
So you recommend these products on your pet website and people can buy them.
Then lets say you have a website about green tea. You could find a mlm that sells a good green tea product and promote the green tea products on the green tea site.
You get the idea? This way you have people coming to you and your not chasing them down.
This is the kind of marketing I do. As you know, MLMs require you to purchase product. So make sure that you are making enough money to cover your product cost with the first one so that you aren’t spending to much money each month with multiple MLM companies on personal product requirement.
Let me know if you have any more questions about this and feel free to check out this link about building a mlm website.
It is not good to be involved with multiple companies because the ones that will allow you to do this are the scams yeah you can make in them if you like scamming people but the real companies will not let you have more than theirs and if they find out you will be kicked out and your business will be shut down. Also if you just find one you will be happier cause you will only be marketing one. There are really good companies out there so just do your research.
If you want to be successful I HIGHLY recommend finding one opportunity and sticking with it. It can be a conflict of interest if you become very successful in multiple companies because they will be scared you are cross promoting and moving customers around (and you will lose your placement and commissions!)
To choose a good company check out the income disclosure statements from the companies you are interested in (they are required by law to share that with you).
Also ask the “successful” person recruiting you to see a copy of their own income statements… that is usually works as a good lie detector =)

All the best — keep asking questions!!
